I'm Dan.
I come to you.

Dan working on a turquoise bicycle on a repair stand outdoors.
Mobile repair, at your place.

Your bike gets fixed where it already is. No rack, no greasy drivetrain in the back of the car, no dropping it off and driving back out for it later.

A lot of jobs are finished right there in the one visit. If yours needs a part I don't have with me, I'll tell you before I start.

You don't have to load the bike.

Same repair, two ways.

Dropping it at a shop

One repair · two round trips
  • Clear out the car and fit the rack
  • Lift a greasy, sandy bike into it
  • Drive over and drop it off
  • Leave it there and wait your turn
  • Drive back out a second time to collect it

Two trips for one repair.

Calling me

One text · one visit
  • Text me what the bike is doing
  • I give you a price before I start
  • I turn up and work on it where it stands
  • Itemized receipt by text or email
  • You get on with your day

No trips. The bike stays put.

E-bikes are the worst ones to move.

Most e-bikes are too heavy to lift onto a trunk rack, and awkward to wrestle into a car even with the wheel out. That's the bike it makes the most sense for me to come to.

Here's what I take on:

E-bike work

  • Tune-ups and servicing
  • Tubes, tires and flats
  • Brakes and drivetrain
  • Motor-wheel removal and replacement
  • New e-bike assembly and setup

No counter, no middleman.

I run North Fork Bike Repair out of Cutchogue. I'm the one who picks up the phone and I'm the one who works on your bike — so you're always talking to the person actually doing the job.

What I fix

Common repairs, servicing, assembly and detailing — road, gravel, mountain, hybrid, kids' bikes and e-bikes.

Everyday fixes

  • Flats, tubes and tires
  • Brake adjustment and new pads
  • Shifting and derailleur adjustment
  • Chain replacement and lube
  • Safety check and diagnosis

Tune-ups & overhauls

  • Full tune-ups, standard and e-bike
  • Drivetrain cleaning
  • Wheel truing and hub overhauls
  • Hydraulic brake bleeds
  • Full cable and housing replacement

The nice-to-haves

  • Clean, detail and polish
  • Tubeless conversions
  • New bike assembly and setup
  • Racks, seats and accessory fitting
  • Indoor trainer setup
You know the price before I start. I quote the job — labor and parts — and you say go before I touch the bike. If I find something else once I'm into it, I'll ask you first rather than just doing it. You get an itemized receipt when I'm done.

Stuck somewhere? I take roadside repair requests on the North Fork. Call me and I'll let you know straight away whether I can get to you.

On the parts side, I commonly fit Schwalbe, Continental, Maxxis, Michelin and Panaracer, and I keep the usual wear items with me so most jobs finish on the first visit. I'll confirm what's available when I quote you.
